Compassionate, Modern Dentistry From Dr. David Miyasaki

Dr. David Miyasaki grew up around dentistry and the kind of practice where relationships matter—where people are remembered, listened to, and treated with genuine care. After a 10-year educational journey that included a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Washington, a DMD from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, and a year-long Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency at the UCLA School of Dentistry, he returned home to Honolulu in 2014 to join the family practice.

Today, Dr. David serves as the lead dentist and primary owner, working closely with Dr. Wilfred Miyasaki and a long-standing team that patients know and trust. Growing up in Honolulu taught him something that still guides how he practices: it’s a small community, and the best way to build trust is to treat people the way you’d want your own family treated—with respect, honesty, and follow-through.

Patients often share that they choose this office because they feel at ease here—because the team is warm and welcoming, appointments are easy to schedule, and the experience is clear, comfortable, and judgment-free. Dr. David believes good dentistry starts with listening. He takes the time to understand what matters to you, explain what he sees in plain language, and lay out options so you can make decisions with confidence—whether you’re staying on track with routine care or getting back on your feet after time away.

Comfort is a priority in everything he does, especially for patients who feel nervous or have had difficult dental experiences in the past. The goal is always to help you feel supported and in control, with anxiety-relief and comfort options that can include moving at your pace, taking breaks when needed, and using a calm, step-by-step approach so nothing feels rushed or surprising.

Dr. David also understands that for many working people and families, time and cost are real concerns. He emphasizes easy-to-understand treatment plans, and when appropriate, he aims to group treatment into as few appointments as possible to make the best use of your time. With the office open six days a week, the team works hard to accommodate busy schedules and provide easy financial arrangements that are straightforward and manageable.

Clinically, Dr. David’s areas of interest include cosmetic dentistry and esthetic reconstructions, dental implants, and All-on-X (All-on-4) / full-arch implant treatment, along with digital and 3D dentistry—always with an emphasis on careful planning, natural-looking results, and long-term stability. He is committed to continuing education and bringing modern, evidence-based techniques into everyday care. He also has extensive experience in community dentistry for the underserved, including volunteer work and part-time staff service at the Kalihi-Palama Health Center’s Dental Clinic in Honolulu, which deepened his belief that everyone deserves respectful care and clear guidance—no matter where they’re starting from.

The practice is proud to support communication needs in multiple languages, with coverage available for Cantonese, Mandarin, Tagalog, and Ilocano.

Outside of the office, David enjoys playing tennis once or twice a week and spending weekends doing something outdoors with his wife and three-year-old son—soaking up family time whenever they can. They also love trying local spots around Honolulu (and he’ll always have a soft spot for Zippy’s), so if you run into him around town, feel free to say hello.

Letter to Patients

Dear friend,

Thank you for trusting us with your dental care. We know this isn’t just another appointment—choosing a dentist is personal, and we take that responsibility seriously. Our goal is to help you stay healthy, feel comfortable in the chair, and feel confident about your smile.

This practice was built on a simple belief: there’s always a better way to care for patients. Dr. Wilfred Miyasaki has carried that mindset for decades, and it continues to shape the experience patients expect here—gentle, thoughtful, and relationship-based.
