- An oral cancer screening
- An interview with our staff to address any concerns
Additional Preventive Services:
- Dental sealants to protect your molars from cavities
- Fluoride to fortify your teeth against decay
- Nutritional counseling to help you make better choices for your teeth
We are proud to use Curodont™ Repair Fluoride Plus to treat decay before it becomes a cavity. When we notice a white spot lesion or other signs of early decay, we will treat you with Curodont, which uses the minerals in your saliva to remineralize your tooth and prevent a cavity from forming. There will be no pain, no discomfort, and no fuss, just a healthy smile.
Protect Your Smile From Injury and Gum Disease
While tooth decay is a widespread concern that will affect more than 90 percent of people, it isn’t the only potential risk to your smile. Periodontal disease is the leading cause of tooth loss in the United States. Fortunately, we offer painless non-surgical gum disease treatments that can help you avoid gum surgery.
For athletes, dental injuries can cause serious long-term problems. Thankfully, you can get custom-designed mouthguards to keep your teeth safe and in place. We consider this an essential part of preventive dentistry because protecting your smile means not having to repair it in the future. Mouthguards can also relieve jaw pain related to TMJ dysfunction and protect your teeth from damage from teeth grinding.

Common Questions About General Dentistry
Should I get flouride treatment?
Fluoride, a mineral found in many foods and water, helps prevent cavities by making your tooth enamel stronger. It can even reverse early-stage decay. Since it contributes to the development of healthy teeth, children under 12 may benefit from fluoride treatment. In addition, cavity-prone adults may benefit as well. Ask us about fluoride if you have dry mouth, gum disease, or wear braces or other orthodontia.
How often should I get a dental cleaning and exam?
In general, we recommend that a patient come in every six months for a dental exam and cleaning. Routine checkups allow us the chance to keep an eye on your oral health and provide early treatment for any problems we spot. You may need to visit us more often if you’re susceptible to gum disease.
What foods are good for my teeth?
If you want a healthy smile, you’ll want a diet rich in whole grains, fiber, fruits and vegetables, calcium, and lean proteins. Make sure you avoid sugary drinks or sticky sweets, which can damage your tooth enamel. Drink plenty of water too! This washes away bacteria from your teeth and gums.
Do dental checkups include oral cancer screenings?
Yes. Dental checkups typically involve a thorough cleaning, comprehensive exam, and dental X-rays to look for signs of problems like tooth decay or gum disease; an oral cancer screening; and time with your dentist to talk about any current or potential oral health issues that need to be addressed.
